Of course, while hanging around Tarot Passages scoping out Tarot of the Master infos, I stumbled upon their latest review, for something called TAROT OF THE WHITE CATS.
There’s a Tarot for everything, I swear to God. Anyway…
The review mentioned white cat folklore in passing, something that I know little about, so that sent me running off, a-Googling… seems that here in America, while black cats are considered unlucky, white cats are considered lucky. Whoa. Breaking new ground, there, peeps. England reverses the two associations (though, no word yet as to whether that’s just to be contrary — kidding! kidding!).
More cat folklore here. Or, if you really want to go naners, check out Katharine Briggs’ NINE LIVES: THE FOLKLORE OF CATS.
Oh look! A snap of Katharine Briggs!

I heartily admit that I’ve been waiting for an excuse to re-post the picture in the new digs.
For those of you anxiously awaiting a Lewis Spence photo (yes, all zero of you), I’m working on it. I emailed the National Library of Scotland today.
