fluting in the car: the zeitgeist?
As most creative peeps I know equate marketing with shoving hot pins beneath their fingers, I have to wonder if you guys read marketer galore Seth Godin’s ginormously popular blog. I do, and I highly recommend it. Over the past few days he has posted a couple of times about a trend that is as goofy as it is disturbing:
I think that might be a recorder in the photo in the first post. I should know — I played the recorder. (Yeah, yeah, so every fourth grader in the history of Orono played the recorder.)
In other news, I promise that marketing is not the root of all evil. In fact, it can often lead to writing and creating more. But that’s something for another time.

Why, knock me over with a feather! Here I’ve been reading your blog ever since you posted the very handy 1-page zine DIY, never knowing you had roots in Orono! I too played recorder in Orono. It was what the kids whose parents were too cheap/poor to buy them real instruments got to do. I can still play Hot Cross Buns on a recorder to this day. Congrats on getting away! Me, I only made it as far as Belfast.
