Yeats, mages, webcam girls

in esoterica, folks

Got your attention, didn’t I? :)

1. From the “finally entering the year 2000″ department, I now have a webcam. Embarrassed to say that I spent about an hour this evening trying to install the software for the dang thing. (Obsessive?) Actually, I bought the webcam a few months ago, back when I bought the microphone for the Abundant Practice Workshop launch. But I couldn’t install the software for the dang thing… and promptly forgot about it. Until now.

Remember, I is a masters of computer science from NYU!

Anyways. For those who wanted to see the new hair, here’s a picture.

2. From the “keeping up with the occultists & mystics” department, the new(ish) Manly Palmer Hall biography arrived. Actually, it arrived a week ago tonight, on Halloween. (Appropriate? Student of the Western Traditions that I am, embarrassingly, I know very little about the guy. Hence the purchase.) But once again, the UPS store peeps got not their act together.

I bring it up because the production values on the book are out of sight, especially for a paperback. The paper is creamy, parchment-like heavy stock, and the pictures are scattered throughout at jaunty angles, making it feel much more like a scrapbook than a biography. I’m looking forward. The arrival reminded me yet again of what a mad girly crush I have on W.B. Yeats. Don’t ask. :)

3. Carl Vincent has a wonderful interview with Lisa Snellings. Go see!

4. Got much good work done, both on my business and creative projects this week. Looking forward to hanging with Lisa tomorrow. Upper West Side, oh yes. Just made another batch of rice salad for the occasion. (If you’re in a rice salad makin’ kind of mood, I highly recommend using Trader Joe’s Brown Rice Medley.)

5. I’m thinking about contact lenses. I had them years ago, but thanks to a nasty scratch on my left eye, I had to stop wearing them shortly after I came to New York and have avoided them ever since. (I could feel the scratch on my cornea for years afterwards, and, I have to admit, Mr. Wood’s recurring eye drama of the past few years did little to change my mind.) The eye doc says she can’t see a thing, though, so… we’ll see.

6. From the “Good heavens, where are my manners?” department, many congrats to my pal Kris Waldherr on the launch of her latest book, Doomed Queens. Gorgeously illustrated, impeccably designed, wickedly written… the book is rockin’ and so is the lady who made her. Check out some of the glorious booty here.

So much to reply to:

1. I have a webcam and haven’t set it up yet either.

2. Resist wear my contacts for the same reason, though my doc says all is well.

3. Thanks for the shout out. Can I use “wickedly written” in my press materials? ;)

Love the new hair!

I’m much farther behind in the tech department. Not sure I would want a webcam…not sure I’d want anyone to see what I look like late at night or early in the morning which is when I spend most time on the computer! :)

Thanks for the shout out. I was thrilled with Lisa’s participation and every time I read her answers I get something new out of it.
